CODE AMENDMENT - AN ORDINANCE OF THE TOWN OF DAVIE, FLORIDA, AMENDING CHAPTER 12, ARTICLE VIII, SECTIONS 12-260 TITLED “LIGHTING STANDARDS;” 12-261 “STREET LIGHTING”; 12-262 “NIGHT SKY REGULATIONS”; PROVIDING FOR SEVERABILITY; PROVIDING FOR CONFLICTS; AND PROVIDING FOR AN EFFECTIVE DATE. (Approved on first reading March 18, 2026. Vice Mayor Whitman moved to approve the item. Councilmember Luis seconded the motion. In a roll call vote: Councilmember Starkey - yes; Councilmember Luis - yes; Mayor Paul - yes; Vice Mayor Whitman - yes; and Councilmember Alfonso - yes. Motion carried by a majority vote 5/0.)

Executive Summary: 

Amendment of Chapter 12, Section 260 to include the “Florida Greenbook” as an acceptable standard for lighting.

Amendment of Chapter 12, Section 261 by granting the Town Engineer additional authority concerning approval of lighting designs and standards.

Amendment of Chapter 12, Section 262 by removing non affirmative language, removing temporary exemptions, adding in lumen regulation for uplighting, and removing site plan modification requirements.
