Councilmember Whitman moved to approve. Councilmember Starkey seconded the motion. In a roll call vote: Vice Mayor Hattan - yes; Councilmember Luis - yes; Councilmember Whitman - yes; Councilmember Starkey - yes; and Mayor Paul - yes. Motion carried by a majority vote 5/0. | | Executive Summary: | On August 21, 1985, the Town Council adopted Ordinance 85-070 which provided for a revision related Town Council’s allowance for expenses in the amount of $250 per month. Subsequently, on May 20, 2015, the Town Council adopted Ordinance 2015-014 amending the monthly expense allowance to $450 per month.
The expense allowance has not been adjusted since 2015 to account for increases in the cost of living. The proposed amendment authorizes the Town Council to receive a monthly allowance in the amount of $800 per month.
Additionally, the Town Council expense allowance shall be subject to the cost-of-living adjustment on an annual basis. The index for determining the adjustment and the method of computing the cost-of-living adjustment shall be the same as that used for the non-represented employees of the Town of Davie. | | Key Points: |
